Philips has introduced a large 48.8-inch curved office monitor 49B2U5900CH. The new product is based on a VA matrix with an aspect ratio of 32:9 and support for a resolution of 5120 × 1440 pixels. As a result, the new product is equivalent to two 27-inch monitors with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels each.
The radius of curvature of the Philips 49B2U5900CH display is 1800R. The screen has a viewing angle of 178 degrees, a peak brightness of 450 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. It claims VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. The office positioning of the monitor gives a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz and a relatively high response time of 4 ms (GtG). The manufacturer claims 97 percent NTSC color space coverage and 119 percent sRGB color space coverage for the display, and color accuracy is Delta E <2.
The Philips 49B2U5900CH monitor connector set includes a pair of HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4 and one USB-C with alternative charging options up to 100 W and DisplayPort. In addition, the new product received another additional USB Type-C port and two USB Type-A. The monitor is equipped with an ergonomic stand with the ability to adjust the height of the display above the table, as well as the angles of rotation and tilt.
The Philips 49B2U5900CH also claims to have two speakers of 3 W each, a LAN connector, a 5-megapixel camera with support for the Windows Hello authorization function, and a headset stand. The monitor supports KVM function, which allows you to control two PCs with one set of mouse and keyboard. However, the display itself is not equipped with built-in KVM control buttons. Instead, the manufacturer notes the ability to switch between signal sources directly from the keyboard, by quickly pressing the “Ctrl” key three times.
In the UK, the Philips 49B2U5900CH is priced at UK£949.99. In the Eurozone countries, the new product will be offered for €1,199. The monitor should go on sale this month.
