The Central Bank did not change its position on cryptocurrencies: but it is ready to allow their use for export settlements - Nabiullina
The Central Bank has not changed its position on cryptocurrencies: a negative attitude towards the use in the domestic market, but is ready to allow for export settlements. At the same time, the issue of creating a stablecoin pegged to gold for export settlements requires deep study, said the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, during a press conference.
“We have not changed our position here, we have a negative attitude towards the use of cryptocurrency in the national market, in internal settlements. We allow, if it can be convenient for our economic entities, to use cryptocurrency in external settlements, we are ready to allow this,” she said.
“As for different stablecoins and the possibility of using them in bilateral settlements with different countries, this issue requires a very deep study, and of course, such issues are still far from specific proposals,” the head of the Central Bank added.
