Reward System Update (Part 3). Users Rewards
In the new reward system, perhaps the most difficult thing is to determine how many tokens from the board fund should go to each participant.
We are based on the following principles:
1. The distribution system should take into account the contribution of each participant to the life of the board and allow the most useful members to receive more tokens
2. Board members must be directly involved in determining the amount of rewards of each member
3. The distribution of rewards should be convenient and fun
4. The system must be resistant to various kinds of manipulation and protect board participants from “theft” of rewards
How will the board rewards be distributed among its participants in the new reward system?
1. Each user will have their own indicator of activity in each board, which will reflect the “usefulness” of this user in this particular board.
2. Users will be able to earn board Activity Points for positive votes of their posts and comments in this board.
3. Additional Activity Points can be earned by regularly voting on the posts and comments of other board members.
4. Users will be able to earn any number of Activity Points, however, Activity Points earned from previous days will gradually expire. Thus, users who are more actively involved in the life of the boards will be able to get more rewards.
5. Board moderators, by limiting the maximum number of posts posted by users per day, will be able to push members to make more interesting content and compete with each other.
6. Tokens from the board reward pool will be distributed daily among board members based on their Activity Points.
There will be two important additions to the new reward system.
I. Only board coin holders will be able to receive rewards from the board.
In fact, it will be enough for users to have any non-zero number of board coins to start receiving rewards in it.
This is done for two reasons:
1. The need to purchase coins will encourage users to choose their boards more carefully and study their goals and rules before participating, which should reduce the burden on moderators.
2. The presence of a transaction fee can make it economically unprofitable to “farm” tokens by users who do not bring any value.
If board moderators block unscrupulous participants in a timely manner, then they simply will not have time to recoup the costs of conducting transactions, which means they will stop trying to “steal” board rewards.
II. Users will be able to increase their Activity Points, based on which rewards are distributed, by purchasing more board coins.
For example, 1 board coin will increase the user's activity indicator in this board by 2 times, 3 coins - by 3 times, 7 coins - by 4 times, 63 coins - by 7 times and so on.
In fact, the value of the activity multiplier will be determined by the formula 1+log(1+board_coins), where board_coins is the number of user’s coins on this board.
As you can see, buying each additional coin will have less and less effect. This is done in order, on the one hand, to equalize the chances of all board members to receive rewards, on the other hand, to reward those users who buy more coins, because they increase the total pool of board rewards and should receive additional bonuses.
What to do now?
We plan to release this update in the second half of September.
If you know which boards you will definitely participate in and want to receive rewards there, you can buy their coins in advance. We remind you that the earlier you buy coins relative to other participants, the less tokens you spend on them.
Board moderators can also run coins giveaway contests to attract the most interesting authors to their boards.
