Foreign media: "Ripple plans to buy back 10 billion XRP" or a rumor
Despite the suspicious source and unconfirmed information, the rumor quickly caught the attention of the XRP community, with many prominent figures commenting on it, according to a recent post by CryptoAlert, which claimed that Ripple allegedly plans to buy back 10 billion XRPs, or 10% of its total supply.
Attorney John Deaton tweeted, "Unless I hear Ripple say this, I don't believe Ripple will buy back 10 billion XRPs."
Attorney Bill Morgan also questioned that if it would take $5 billion to buy back a large number of XRP tokens at the current market price, "where would they get $5 billion and then buy it at the current price?Given the (SEC) related lawsuit, who would lend money to Ripple to allow it to buy back tokens - unless there were other sources of funding such as an IPO."
In addition, Ripple CTO David Schwartz commented, "We sometimes buy XRP. but I don't know what specifics that might refer to. and there's no mention of any official sources."
According to XRPL Services, Ripple currently holds about 41.9 billion XRPs in its accounts. these tokens play a crucial role in facilitating the company's various financial services and strengthening its important position in the XRP ecosystem.
The OEI OKX ticker shows that XRP is now trading at 0.49231 USDT, up 0.06% on 24H.(U.TODAY)
