The Mortal Kombat Continues: Warner Bros. Mortal Kombat 2 release date announced
Film company Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have announced the premiere date for the sequel to the 2021 film Mortal Kombat, based on the iconic fighting game franchise from NetherRealm Studios.
Let us remind you that the Mortal Kombat sequel was approved by Warner Bros. management. by the beginning of 2022. Filming began last June, paused in mid-July , continued in November and ended at the end of January.
As it became known, Mortal Kombat 2 (“Mortal Kombat 2”) will appear on big screens on October 24, 2025. The last film also debuted on HBO's Max cloud service - there is no such information about the continuation.
Mortal Kombat 2 was directed by the director of the first part, Simon McQuoid, and the script was written by Jeremy Slater, known for his work on the TV series The Exorcist, The Umbrella Academy and Moon Knight.
The main stars of Mortal Kombat will return to their roles, and newcomers to the cast include Karl Urban (Johnny Cage), Adeline Rudolph (Kitana) and Tati Gabrielle (Jade).
The Mortal Kombat film launched in April 2021 and exceeded the creators' expectations - the film's box office gross was $84.4 million (against a budget of $55 million), so the sequel was approved quickly.
The first part was a restart of the film franchise that started in 1995 with the film Mortal Kombat. The newest game, Mortal Kombat 1, by the way, is also another reboot of the series.
