My First Tournament Registration Experience in Ultimate Champions
Hey fellow champs!
Just wanted to share my journey stepping into the tournament scene for the first time and maybe give some insights or tips for newbies like me.
Getting Tournament-Ready:
Turns out, there's a bit of a checklist to get into tournaments. Usually you'll need at least 1 or 2 epic cards, which aren't just lying around. You can snag epic cards from silver packs (though they're a bit pricey at around $30) or grind for MGC tokens by winning in leagues (brace yourselves, it's a long haul). Alternatively, the marketplace has these epic cards starting at a more wallet-friendly $5.
Pro tip: Silver packs are also up for grabs by participating in our MAIN League – totally worth it if you're not in already!
Not All Tournaments Require Epic Cards:
Found out there are tournaments where you don't necessarily need epic cards – just a decent collection from specific leagues or countries can get you in.
I managed to gather 375 MGC tokens from league participations and hit the Store to grab the UC International Tier 1 Kickoff Pack. This little treasure trove got me 5 player cards from Tier 1 leagues, covering all positions plus one extra at random.
Here's the cards I pulled.
Not bad.
The kicker? You can only buy this kickoff pack three times, but IMHO, it's the smartest way to spend your first batch of MGC tokens.
Stepping into the Arena:
Armed with my new lineup, I registered for two tournaments that don't have as many entrants as Leagues but offer juicier prizes. You only need a team of 5, which sounds less daunting. While my chances might seem thin, I'm eager to see how it all plays out.
For anyone sitting on the sidelines, give your collection a once-over – you might be more tournament – ready than you think! Check eligible tournaments here.
Would love to hear from others about their first dive into tournaments or any strategies you've found effective. Let's share and learn together!
